Answer and explanation
2. He usually gets home around 七時 and first says 九時ごろ because of work. But guests are coming at 八時, so he changes his plan: しごとは あしたに して、七時半ごろ かえるよ.
Trick: あ、そうだった！ ("Oh, that's right!") is a sign that the speaker is about to change what he just said. The answer is in the sentence after it.
